No late-round pick is as celebrated as the very last pick of the draft, Mr. Irrelevant, at least on the day of the draft.
Kpassagnon wrecked FCS left tackles, but questions remain about how he’ll perform at the next level. He was solid at the Senior Bowl, but his speed rush won’t be nearly as successful against the fleet-footed linemen in the NFL. His pass-rushing moves are still very raw, and while he’s a quick learner, the Chiefs likely understand it may be a couple years before he’s a regular contributor.
He’s also a bit stiff as an athlete, which hinders his ability to change directions or lower his pads to get underneath a blocker’s outstretched arms. So much of his production came from the fact he was much bigger and more athletic than his competition. He won’t have that advantage in 2017.
Plus, with someone so intelligent and with other obvious interests, NFL types tend to wonder how important football is. Kpassagnon says he loves football.
These are not our top-five overall picks, just our five players we’d be quickest to move up in the rankings.
The only rule: no picking Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett, because the expected No. 1 pick cannot possibly be undervalued. Guess that means we can’t pick potential No. 1 pick North Carolina QB Mitchell Trubisky either, not that, uh, we would.
The team addressed the left tackle problem by signing Cheap Quality Baseball Jerseys veteran Andrew Whitworth, who MLB Authentic Jerseys was considered to be the best offensive lineman on the free agent market. Whitworth is 35 and by no means a long-term fix, but at the least it will allow Goff to have some more time in the pocket and not have to worry about NFL pass rushers every second on every snap.
